Points well taken, Zyrano, and you're probably right, but might be other issues on the table - a lot of money to invest for just one state where JR may already have the market cornered on the item. That said, you or anybody else got numbers on the Jackson Racing header for a 1.6l? Also, think we can trust Import Tuner's numbers? limiter for long and, frankly, where I like to drive a horsepower or two at the top end makes less difference than knowing how to handle what I'm sitting on! (Y'all agree?) Not bad, but personally whether for canyon carving, Solo II or just taking up the slack at freeway speeds, I'd happily trade more power from 3500-6000 rpm and lose a horse or two above that - the 5-speed simply doesn't have close enough gear ratios to stay near the rev. Wish they'd replaced the el-cheapo Cat that the squirrel died in with a new stock one before they'd done the Hi-flow Cat test, but I'd suspect the latter Cat would have still been good for another 1.5% at 3700 bringing the total to 4.5% power increase mid-span. From the Dyno-Chart, looks to be about +2hp (or 3%) at 3700 rpm and about the same for torque. Could be the demand in CA has grown to the point where trying again is in RB's interest - just conjecture, I'll call them and talk.Īnd that said, what about my central question: Do you think a good header + high-flow CAT swap will really give 4-5% more hp and torque on average through the 2500-6000 rpm range? Again, the engine only has an easily driven 40k on it, I've already upgraded to Jackson Racing intake and RoadsterSport-3 exhaust and, though the engine gets a little rattley and and harsh sounding near rev-limiter at 15BTDC, it handles 14 degrees just fine using 91 octane gas (might even be able to get away with 89 here in the cool Bay-Area). That said, my understanding too is that the CARB testing process is prohibitively expensive and simply not worth it in some cases to aftermarket manufacturers. Next time I'll check with the manufacturer first and skip the jibber-jabber.

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the status of the RB header. What I (we) need is reasonable conjecture from experience or, better yet, actual numbers. This thread belongs to all of us so take it where you like, but spare ME the lectures - I've settled on remaining naturally-aspirated and have already done 95% of what you might suggest as money better placed. lighter than stock, clean flowing if a smidge loud (gotta be polite when driving home late at night) Roadster Sport 3 CAT-back exhaust. To put this all in specific context, my engine only has 41k well maintained miles on it (lucky me), I've a Jackson Racing intake and the 6 lbs. Just 2? - running too rich for my wallet. increase from 2500-6000 rpm is a fair deal. The Racing Beat dyno numbers are pretty convincing for just the header swap alone on a 2000, but what about the 1.6l? Looks like purchase price for both header and CAT + paying the governor + shipping and handling will be about $700-750. My question is: any of you have actual experience with this upgrade?
